Turn left onto Dicken Road and proceed for 600m. Starting at the North Fernie Bridge over the Elk River, proceed east along Highway 3 for 5.3 km to Dicken Road. The trail begins off of Hartley Lake Road at the trailhead for Heiko’s Trail. The beauty of this route is that you have the opportunity to enjoy the amazing viewpoints offered through the beginning of Heiko’s Trail, including a waterfall, cave and alpine meadows, and old-growth forest. You can expect to see some snow in high reaches anytime during the summer season, with much remaining from winter. This trail is often done as a (much recommended) detour along Heiko’s Trail via the Hartley Lake Road access. The mountain peaks of Mount Fernie, Mount Proctor and Mount Hosmer will be mostly unrecognisable as you observe them from this unique perspective. We have our meetings on the last Tuesday of most months and the Secretary circulates the information about these either by e mail, text or post, as required by the members.
We sometimes have special work weekends if we have larger tasks that take longer than a morning. We meet on the Car Park at 10.00am and work until about noon. The Friends have a work morning on the second Sunday each month. To support practical projects to improve the Three Sisters and promote the site by voluntary work and fund-raising.To raise the profile and promote the public use of the Three Sisters Recreation Area.To foster communication between the management bodies and the users of the Three Sisters Recreation Area.In November 2005 the group became a constituted, not-for-profit, community association.
